Sail load & collaboration
McOne sail load analysis is modelled in a program named sail-pack. This program is used by a large majority of sailmakers worldwide, the largest one being Doyle’s, giving us the ability to collaborate with most sailmakers, and it can also be imported from other modelling languages. Mc1 SPARS uses the Spar industry’s leading sail load analysis companies. America’s Cup, Volvo, Maxi’s & Multihull mast engineers do our sail load analyses. Contracting with different Sail analysis companies allows us to pick the right team for your project, from a performance cruiser to a high-performance catamaran or monohull.
Laminate Engineering
The laminate engineer closely collaborates with the sail load analysis team. The structure/laminate engineers analyse the sail loads and determine the best section to provide your project’s required carbon thickness and stiffness. We are fortunate to work with a Auckland Baic Finite Element Analysis (FEA), whose computing power is superior to any spar company, enabling us to conduct multiple FEA studies throughout a project timeline. We start by examining the overall structure and then focus on the localised high-load areas to create the laminate. The cooperation between the sailmaker loads analysis and laminate engineer is crucial in achieving the optimal sailing experience from the day you step on board.
Hardware design
The hardware installed on a mast must be both functional and aesthetically pleasing. We are pleased to announce that all our designers have extensive experience in yachting, and they enjoy creating hardware that is both functional and visually appealing. Our design team has worked on multiple America’s Cup, Volvo, maxi multihulls, super Maxis, and hundreds of performance cruises. They specialise in developing hardware that is almost invisible, providing maximum functionality with a minimalist look.
Custom Tooling
